What Is A Toggle Switch?
A toggle switch is a hinged switch that can switch between 2 positions.
The hinged switch could be a lever, a rocking mechanism or a handle.
A toggle switch can do 2 things, one at a time.
Example Uses of a Toggle Switch
· An on\off switch. · Move the switch one way to turn an electrical appliance on. · Move the switch the other way turn the electrical appliance off.
· A domestic electrical socket switch. · A domestic electrical socket switch is a ‘rocker switch’. · Rock the switch one way to turn the socket on and apply power to, say, a TV. · Rock the switch the other way to turn the socket off and remove power from, say, a TV.
· An RCD switch. · Move the RCD lever one way to allow power to an electrical circuit. · Move the RCD lever the other way to remove power from an electrical circuit.
