What Oxidised Contacts Are
Oxidised contacts are when the copper electrical contacts of bulb holders react with oxygen in the air and become discoloured. |
|
What Problems Oxidised Contacts Cause
The oxidisation of electrical contacts can prevent electrical connection between a bulb and its electrical supply. Oxidisation of electrical contacts can cause lights not to light or flickering lights.
How To Fix Oxidised Contacts
To fix an oxidised electrical contact:
· Turn the electrical supply to the light off.
· Scrape the electrical contact with a screwdriver to remove the oxidisation; electrical contacts should be copper in colour. |
