Lights Not Coming On

 

· Bulb(s) blown – don’t forget the obvious.

 

· Light sensor dirty.

· Clean sensor.

 

· Light sensor covered (blocked).

· Remove blockage.

 

· Time mechanism stuck on\off.

 

· Pressure sensor broken.

 

· Push button switch stuck.

· Communal lights often have a switch outside each flat and at the entrance. The switch is often a large round push button switch.

· Is the push button switch stuck?

 

· RCD tripped.

· RCD links.

 

· Fuse blown – check fuse board.

 

 

 

Lights Not Going Off

 

· Light sensor  broke.

· Remove light sensor head – lights usually go off.

· Replace sensor.

 

· Time mechanism stuck on\off.

 

· Pressure sensor broken.

 

· Time lag switch stuck.

· Communal lights usually stay on (’hold on’), say for 30 seconds, when activated.

· Is the ‘hold on’ switch stuck?

 

· Push button switch stuck.

· Communal lights often have a switch outside each flat and at the entrance. The switch is often a push button switch.

· Is the push button switch stuck?

 

 

 

Lights Turning On\Off At Wrong Time

 

· Timer broken.

 

· Timer clock set to AM\PM when it should be PM\AM.

 

· Sensitivity control not set correctly.

· Most sensors have a ‘sensitivity’ control that changes how dark\light it has to be to operate.

· Is the light sensor set correctly?

 

· Light sensor dirty.

· Dirty sensor affects the amount of light shining on the photo-electric cell inside the sensor.

· Clean the sensor head.

 

· Light sensor in a shadow.

· The shadow will affect the amount of light shining on the photo-electric cell inside the sensor.

· Move the sensor head or adjust the setting for more sensitivity.
